Moving on to Cornwall, Somerset and Abbot's Langley

Created by Maggie 4 years ago
Ken and Maggie moved to Truro, bought a big house where they did B&B and they had a holiday cottage. Both were very successful. They joined Truro Methodist Church singing in the choir and also the Society of Recorder Players. He also played table tennis regularly and went to evening class doing antique furniture restoration. From Cornwall Ken and Maggie moved to Somerset, near Wincanton. Here a dilapidated “estate” cottage plus a range of outbuildings, including stables, gave him the chance to do extensive refurbishment. Again, he was able to play table tennis weekly and recorder groups were soon established including monthly Saturday afternoon sessions in Bristol. The carriage house now converted, Ken and Maggie had enough room for musical soirees and for church and village entertainments. Ken made the decision to study and become a local preacher and with Maggie’s input our services were much appreciated . They had “homed” a puppy in Truro and aged 12 years our beloved Susie died.. By now they had six grandchildren and it was also time to downsize and be less rural. Hence our move to Abbots Langley to be near our younger daughter, Elizabeth and her husband Peter and two of our grandchildren.
